OUR MINISTRY & MISSION STATEMENT

SOUTHCREST BAPTIST CHURCH
MINISTRY & MISSION STATEMENT

We believe the purpose of Southcrest Baptist Church, in accordance with Matthew 28: 18-20, is to evangelize the lost and to edify the redeemed.

EVANGELIZE THE LOST

*EVANGELISM...
In obedience to the mandate of Acts 1:8, our church is to share Jesus Christ in
Lubbock, throughout Texas, the United States, and to all the world.

EDIFY THE REDEEMED

We believe the edifying of the redeemed contains four basic facets.

*WORSHIP...
We believe worship in its purest form to be our human response to God's revelation of Himself. Prayer, music, confession, and adoration are but a few actions of worship.
Scriptural basis: Colossians 3:16, II Chronicles 20:18-19; Nehemiah 1:4-11, Psalms 38:18

*FELLOWSHIP...
We believe fellowship with Jesus Christ to be the church's distinctive mark.
Fellowship represents the relationship between the believer and God, as well as among other believers. Fellowship in Christ should produce perfect unity among church members.
Scriptural basis: I Corinthians 1:9-10; Romans 15:5-7

*DISCIPLESHIP...
We believe obedient service to be the basic expression of discipleship. We believe such service is voluntary, but never optional for the people of God. We believe it is the responsibility of our church to train the believers toward maturity in Christ. Scriptural basis: II Timothy 3:14-17, Ephesians 4:12; Colossians 2:6-7

*MINISTRY...
We believe ministry involves self-sacrifice. It is the investing of oneself and one's resources for the cause of Christ. We further believe that our church's ministry in Christ's name must address the concrete realities of crucial human need. Scriptural basis: Matthew 22:37-39; Micah 6:6-8; Acts 2:44-45

Finally, we believe that none of this is possible without the enabling power of the Holy Spirit indwelling and enriching the believers of Southcrest Baptist Church. "Jesus looked at them and said, 'With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God." Mark 10:27 (NIV)
