Katrina Ballentine

Back in 1995, when our building was still on Ave. P, vivacious ten-year-old Katrina started attending Southcrest with her family.  She stayed involved here for 13 years until her family helped plant Redeemer Church.  After going to college, marrying her husband, Matt, having two beautiful children, and running a killer photography business, Katrina decided to venture into working outside the home full-time.  In 2014, Danny Henderson brought her back to Southcrest, working in the family ministry offices.  Since then, she has added two more amazing kids to her tribe and is currently serving as the Communication Director.  She deftly leads her team in the production of quality graphics and videos for our worship services and online content.  Katrina has had fun being at Southcrest again.  She is dedicated to connecting members with what’s going on at our church.  Because most of her work is behind the scenes, during the week, she connects more with members who volunteer and who plug-in outside of Sunday mornings.

“It is a joy to see people loving and serving Christ in their everyday lives.  Their devotion is inspiring.”

But Katrina also has a heart to reach those outside the church walls.  She was once a foster parent, and she deeply connects to organizations that are reaching people in the margins of society.  In fact, her favorite part of this job is offering communication services to a variety of ministries throughout Lubbock.  She and her team work alongside these programs to create a stronger, more visible presence in our community.

“Getting to assist ministries like Lubbock Impact or Parkridge Pregnancy Center in furthering their message, along with the message of Jesus Christ, is the most rewarding part of the job.”

Katrina’s enthusiasm and natural energy get others excited about the work at Southcrest and within the Lubbock community.  Her sense of humor and infectious laughter will quickly draw you into a conversation where you might discover that she enjoys gardening, reading, pottery, and photography.  But, of course, working a full-time job and loving a husband and four kids leaves little time to invest in any of these dreams fully.  Instead, she’s simply taken on the task of saying the books of the Bible in under 20 seconds.  Surely, she won’t regret making thousands of people ask her to prove it.
