For many of you, Ms. Carolyn Lowe needs no introduction; she has a heart to serve and does so in a variety of ways within our Southcrest community.
She was born in Kentucky, spent most of her youth and early married life in Oklahoma City and after they moved to Loop, traveled many miles to Levelland and later to Hobbs to finish her degree from College of the Southwest. Carolyn taught Kindergarten for 26 years and has been retired for just as many!
Carolyn and her late husband, Bill (also a long-time public educator), moved to Lubbock in 2005 to be close to their son and his family. (She also has a daughter in Allen, TX.) They became members at Southcrest in 2006 and immediately found ways to get involved.
Since Bill’s passing, Carolyn has found many ways to stay involved here. She plays an active role on the Bereavement Committee, sings in both choirs, enjoys quilting and participates in many of the different Bible studies, as well as a Life Group. She loves the way Bro David preaches the Word and appreciates the many different programs Southcrest has to offer. Carolyn loves the people here and wants each one of us to feel loved and cared for.
Carolyn is highlighted this month because of her volunteer work! About seven years ago, she noticed that the ministry assistants had their hands full and she wanted to do something useful. Carolyn decided to take on the load of stuffing (and then unstuffing!) our bulletins each week. This is definitely a behind-the-scenes job, but she does it because – she can! She saw a need and took action.
Carolyn helps Katrina Ballentine get her work done efficiently. “I love Ms. Carolyn because of how she shows the love of Christ in everything she does. She helps us with a joyful attitude and without complaint. She is thoughtful and encouraging to all of the staff. We truly feel loved and supported by Ms. Carolyn.”
Thank you for your service, Carolyn! We love and appreciate you.
